the first day of middle school

Now this kid, has always been way more introverted than I have ever been in my whole life. She had so much anxiety in kindergarten that she was homeschooled for first grade.

Having to get one to elementary school and one to middle school the opposite direction and an hour apart was going to prove difficult on this one-car family. I found my answer in the middle school bus. I soon discovered that we lived too close to the school for the bus, 1.85 miles to be exact, therefore .15 miles too close to the school. Have no fear! Space Available Form is here! Ultimately, Gracie was put on a bus and the bus stop ended up being on our block, around the corner, closer to the school than our house…go figure.

Now, I had a real dilemma. How in the world am I going to get this introverted, stay in bed until noon, doesn’t want to shower in the morning child to get on the bus and return home on the bus?

First day of school arrived. She was up and dressed and ready to go out the door at 7am. She even refused to let us walk her to the bus stop. Where had my child gone? She must have been taken by aliens the night before and replaced with this new creature!

Upon returning to the neighborhood after picking the male species child up from his school. I received a phone call. She was lost and didn’t know where she was. She immediately gave me the intersection names and I realized how close she had gotten, pretty impressive. She had gotten off the bus at the wrong corner, thought she could find her way home, failed, and called right away. Considering her best friend got on the entirely wrong bus, I’m calling the whole ordeal a win!
