new tattoo
I had three tattoos, but we will get into those later. I have had the itch again for quite awhile. Ended up putting it off, because my job requires me to be in the water - a lot - especially in the summer. Then I caught a break! Surgery with at least two weeks out of the pool was scheduled. The day before surgery seemed like a really great time to get new ink. Yes, I did, in fact, do my research. I have no history of infections with tattoos, I’m healthy, and I go to a very reputable, clean, tattoo artist.
What to get was slightly more difficult. My list has gotten long, but the timing seemed perfect for this one. Mom’s first birthday after her passing was almost here and this was the perfect time. I wanted something that was part her and part me. She had a double red rose tattoo on her left leg. I had caught a photo of it, probably too late, but I never wanted an exact replica. I sent over the idea of a black and gray design with a double rose and daisies, with stems twisted. I set the appointment and waited for the day to come.
When I got to the shop, Jay was ready with two designs, I picked one “that’s the one I really liked,” he replied. I asked him to enlarge it a bit. Off we went. He asked where I wanted it positioned, I showed him about where and said he should choose the best spot. “I won’t micro-manage your art, if you don’t try to teach my swim lessons.” About an hour later I was on my way with a new tattoo. One which means a lot to me and I am really happy with.
